Man I love that drive! I was always pumped when I got to take real estate clients to see houses out that way. Thanks for make this Indiana resident miss home a little extra today
Seriously, I hope you keep going with these. The stories are already great, but they absolutely come alive with the texture, pacing and gentle humor in your voice. At minimum, when you finally knock off that book of Tennessee short stories, you absolutely have to voice your own audiobook. ;)
Scott, these notes are just so encouraging. I hope you keep going with these! I know as a fellow creative person, you know how essential encouragement is.
I hear ya, Sam. Encouragement is hugely important. That said, I would encourage anyone who's working hard to pursue their dream. But in this particular case, I'm more just letting you know that you have a genuine talent for oral storytelling. As in, if you were to pursue this, I think you'd become quite successful at it. You should adapt some of your previous stories to the format. I particularly loved the "dad bod" mini-essay. I'd love to see what you could do with that kind of material. Perhaps you can start working toward longer-form stories and eventually get something on "This American Life." There is no question you've got the talent for it. Anyway, keep after it. You're really good.
